Education Testimonials
“Having experienced and enjoyed Drumfun for myself at an Early years Conference, I was determined to ensure Bruntsfield Primary School (Edinburgh) had the Drumfun experience. As Health & Wellbeing coordinator, Drumfun presented a great Emotional Literacy opportunity for the pupils to start a new term with a fun and positive experience to promote team work, resilience, facing challenges, self-confidence and a happy attitude towards the new term ahead. The whole day allowed all our pupils from P2-P7 a drumming workshop and the day ended with a everyone getting together to create a rhythmical masterpiece (or at least we thought it was!). It was fantastic to hear from the staff that they and their classes had enjoyed the day and some even commented on some pupils who often find it difficult to show a smile were SMILING! Steve’s enthusiasm is infectious and the drum fun experience certainly put a bounce in our steps. I would highly recommend Drumfun for all ages!”
Karen Anderson, Bruntsfield Primary School, Edinburgh
“What Steve does is bring all of his energy and enthusiasm and gives his full attention to the children. He very quickly has them on his side and eating out of the palm of his hand, and he is then able to engage them in the learning that he wants them to undertake. He demonstrates wonderfully how, as educators we should be engaging with our children to bring out the best in them and to enable their successful and confident learning"
David Cameron, education consultant, Director of Children's Services(Stirling Council) and former President of ADES (Association of Directors for Education Scotland)
“Thank you again for last week; it was another fantastic, inspiring and motivating visit for pupils, staff and parents alike!”
Head teacher, SleatPrimary school, Isle of Skye
“Once again can I thank you so much for Monday. The way in which you got all the children motivated, enthused and working together was brilliant. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 210 happy faces like that in an assembly before! And that’s not counting the adults up and down the sides!”
Head teacher, Andersons Primary school, Forres
“At our recent Health Focus Day Drumfun provided drum workshops for all stages. The workshops were vibrant and fun and all pupils were delighted to attend again for the grand finale where pupils, teachers and parents made music with Boom Whackers. The presenters' enthusiasm was infectious ensuring that our Health Day went with a bang. Our whole school community left the hall smiling and feeling good, fulfilling the aim of the day.”
Head teacher, St. Mirins Primary school, Glasgow
“Happyness Drum Circles spent a day in our school, providing all the drums and instruments and plenty of enthusiasm and creativity to engage all our older children. The workshops were lively and enjoyable and the whole school pulsated and vibrated to the rhythms being produced. When the rest of the school came together for the end-of-day performance, bringing their home made shakers, Steve's easy management of 400+ children created an atmosphere of sound, movement and excitement few of the children, or staff, had experienced before. It was a "moving' experience in every way as all the children combined their sounds and rhythms together under the direction of their animated Drum Major - Steve. A truly fantastic day, we will certainly be doing this again.”
David Simpson, Head teacher, Linlithgow Primary
“Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day. We were put in the position of our pupils, learning something completely new - which we did with great gusto and lots of laughs. Just try passing egg shakers from hand to hand while singing an African song and getting faster and faster! Why did somebody end up with five? Or "passing a rhythm" round the circle, changing direction and passing it back again. It was all stimulating, challenging activity which demanded great concentration, but a wonderful way to spend an in-service day and all staff were very enthusiastic about it.”
Avril Lamont, Headteacher Fox Covert Primary, Edinburgh
“Everyone was involved immediately, and everything was so positive. This is a great introduction to rhythm. Remarkable!"
Chris Horne, Teacher, Eastfield Primary School
“I loved the energy and smiles of joy on all the participants.”
Niel Barnes, Headteacher, Law Primary School
“Happyness Drumming captivates participants from the moment the session begins. It’s loud, it’s interactive and above all it’s FUN! My staff and pupils always want more! Come back please!!!!”
Lorna Mudie, Headteacher, Maryburgh Primary School
"One of the best periods I've ever spent in the school."
Mrs Anderson, Teacher
"The Happyness Drum Circle visited Invergordon Acadamy holding workshops for S1 up to S6. It was great because all ages could get involved, with the difficulty level for each year group pitched just perfectly. It was fun, lively, energetic and everyone left with a feeling of satisfaction, enthusiasm and confidence. I would thouroughly recommend these workshops for any school, even as a CPD day for staff. A fantastic time was had by all, the only problem being that all the pupils are now asking me to buy a set of African Drums for the school!"
